SUMMARY:Mena Levit Solo Show "My Pastels"
DESCRIPTION:WSA member\, Mena Levit’s solo show “My Pastels” will be on display at the Needham Library July 1 – August 30.  \nMena also shared the followed news: \n“Snipped Beauty” won the 4th Award –  Dick Blick Materials at Connecticut Pastel Society Juried Member Show. \n“White Profusion” was one of the 100 paintings out of 406\, juried into the International Pastel Society of Maine Exhibition. \n“Pick One” was juried into the Spirit of Pastels International Exhibition. \n“Snack Time” was one of the 93 paintings out of 375\, juried into  Pastel Society of Cape Cod Annual Exhibition. Show runs June 25 – July 20 at Cultural Center of Cape Cod\, South Yarmouth. \n“Double Trouble” won the 3d Award – Cape Ann Savings Bank at North Shore Art Association Juried Exhibition. The show runs June 1-22 at North Shore Art AA\, Gloucester\, MA

SUMMARY:Laura Sheuerell Solo Show "Water\, Above and Below the Horizon Line"
DESCRIPTION:WSA member Laura Sheuerell’s  solo show “Water\, Above and Below the Horizon Line” is on exhibit at the Newton Free Library\, July 2-29\, 2024. Opening Reception July 11 at 7-8pm. \nLaura Scheuerell has entitled her show “Water\, Above and Below the Horizon Line”.  In describing the exhibit\, Laura provides the following in her own words: “Laura Scheuerell paints\, collages and builds her 2 and 3-dimensional mixed media art in layers. With WATER as the principal theme\,  she includes fish and their worlds below and above the horizon line. These habitats present various scenarios in a sometimes humorous cartoon-like form. On the water top is the allure of glimmering light bouncing off waves\, lily pads and shorelines. Below is a secret world of sunken artifacts. She is particularly fascinated with the vertical velocity and the powerful plunging drop of waterfalls.  Having grown up just 3 miles north of the booming and crashing natural wonder\, Niagara Falls\, Laura remembers sensing the misty\, negative ion-infused air. Summer visits with family in Canada on a glacier lake north of Ottawa introduced her to the underwater culture of fish. These recollections have inspired this exhibit.”  \nArtist-provided biography: Laura Scheuerell is a visual artist. She maintains her private art studio at The Howard Street Studios in Framingham\, MA. where she is an active\, participating member of the group collective. Laura is an exhibiting member of The Wellesley Society of Artists and has recently had shows at Ula Cafe in Jamaica Plain\, the Armory Cafe in Sommerville\, Sweetwater Cafe in Natick and Pavement Coffee\, Boylston St\, Boston.
