SUMMARY:Johan S. Ellefsen Exhibition - Brush Strokes of Water and Clouds
DESCRIPTION:  \nJohan S. Ellefsen Exhibition\nBrush Strokes of Water and Clouds\nat the Wellesley Free Library in the James E. Mahoney Foyer \nJanuary 3-31\, 2025 \n  \n \nJohan’s art exhibit opened at the Wellesley Free Library on Friday\, January 3rd\, 2025 and runs through January 31. The exhibit displays sixteen oil paintings offering a selection of the artist’s journey and his long-standing interest in the impressionist style.  \nJohan S. Ellefsen is a self-taught artist\, a writer and\, by day\, an attorney. He left behind his native country of Bolivia to live in Wellesley\, MA. He is an Exhibiting Member of the Wellesley Society of Artists since 2023. His first exhibition was in 2006 in the library of the Lycée International de Saint-Germain-en-Laye\, France\, where he showed a series of drawings from sculptures from the Louvre Museum. In 2021\, he exhibited his oil paintings in the Nemacolin Resort in Pennsylvania. More recently\, in December 2024\, he obtained the Yale Nicolls Award for Best Interpretation of the Natural World with his painting “Canadaway Creek.” He is inspired by the temperamental nature of water and the physical texture of oil paints. His current work focuses on landscapes in an impressionist style.

DESCRIPTION:The Wellesley Society of Artists in partnership with the Wellesley Free Library present “Best in Show:  How to Photograph Your Artwork for Winning Results” with photographer Lynne Damianos \n\nTuesday\, January 7\, 2025 at 7:00 pm \n\nLooking to photograph your own artwork\, artwork at a museum\, or artwork at a gallery? Capturing artwork may seem simple\, but it’s hard to do well. Good photography provides professional results\, but there is more to creating a good photograph than simply “pointing and shooting”. This talk with photographer Lynn Damianos will discuss how to deal with issues such as uneven lighting\, incorrect colors\, glares\, and shadows can which can distort the view of the art work and diminish its beauty and clarity. Learn the tricks of the trade to create accurate photographs of your 2-dimensional artwork from a seasoned professional who regularly works with artists to create images used for gallery portfolios\, giclée print reproduction\, and museum dioramas. A live demonstration and clear\, step-by-step instructions will guide you toward success in making glare\, poor color\, and key-stoned images a thing of the past.\n\nAward-winning photographer Lynne Damianos earned her BS in Photography from Rochester Institute of Technology. She specializes in photography of artwork\, people for business\, and architecture (from the ground or via drone aerial). Her fine art images have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout New England. Lynne is a former national board member of the American Society of Media Photographers and past president of the Commercial Industrial Photographs of New England.
