SUMMARY:TCAN Show - "Do You See What I See?"
DESCRIPTION:Come join us in celebration of abstract art! The Wellesley Society Of Artists presents “Do You See What I See?” at The Center for Arts Natick February 1-28. The show features artwork of over 25 member artists. Even if you are not going to a TCAN event\, you can see the show during box office hours. \nArtist Mark Rothko once described the relationship between the observer and the painting as “a consummated experience between the picture and the viewer. Nothing should stand in the way between the painting and the viewer.” With that in mind\, participants submitted artwork that does not attempt to represent an accurate depiction of a visual reality\, but instead uses shapes\, colors\, forms\, and marks to achieve effect and meaning. This definition may include the realm of surrealism that seeks to challenge accepted norms. In showcasing abstract art\, artists have sought to express insights and explore ideas without the anchor of representational symbols.

DESCRIPTION:New England Watercolor Society Signature Members Show: Open February 4 – March 2 at the Guild of Boston Artists on Newbury Street in Boston\, which features paintings of over 80 signature members showcasing some of the best examples of  watercolors in the region. Look for paintings by WSA members Jill Crossman Anderson\, Nelson Hammer\, Yale Nicolls\, Yvonne Posa and Nan Rumpf.
