SUMMARY:Artwork Registration for WSA TCAN Show "Do You See What I See?"
DESCRIPTION:Join us in celebration of abstract art! Artist Mark Rothko once described the relationship between the observer and the painting as “a consummated experience between the picture and the viewer.  Nothing should stand in the way between the painting and the viewer.”  With that in mind\, participants are invited to submit artwork that does not attempt to represent an accurate depiction of a visual reality\, but instead uses shapes\, colors\, forms\, and marks to achieve effect and meaning.  This definition may include the realm of surrealism that seeks to challenge accepted norms.  In showcasing abstract art\, this call encourages artists to create paintings that express insights and explore ideas without the anchor of representational symbols. Paintings that have some representational elements can be viewed as abstract\, as long as the artist has made an attempt to stretch the bounds of what we view as realism. \n \n\nThe Center for Arts Natick (TCAN) \n14 Summer Street\, Natick \nShow opens January 31 –  Closes February 28 \nDo You See What I See? \nAbstract Show \nNot Judged \nRegistration: January 10-24 (no early birds) \nShow is limited to the first 30 artists  \nRegistration Fee is $20.00 – One Entry Per Member  \nNo size limitations  \nSend jpegs of your artwork for publicity to Nancy Treves  \nREGISTER HERE\nTCAN manages all sales \n If the artist is a member of TCAN\, the commission is 25% of the sale price plus the sales tax \n If the artist is NOT a TCAN member\, the commission is 30% of the sale price plus the sales tax \nWSA does not take a commission from sales \nPlease read the WSA exhibition policies with special attention to framing/hanging requirements \nArtwork Drop off: January 31\, 10:00am-11:00am \nArtwork Pick Up: February 28\, 10:00am – Noon \nShow Chairs: Nancy Levin and Mick Watson \nContact Mike Murphy for show related questions
