Wellesley in Bloom\, May 3-11\, celebrates the flora of the season and community. The WSA is participating in this town event with a display of artwork in Church Square and Central Street of flowers and inspired spring scenes and blooming landscapes. DESCRIPTION:SPLASH at the Natick Library May 31 – June 30\nArtwork Registration is Open May 6-20 \nAll WSA exhibiting members are invited to register for this show.   “Register Here”. \nArtists are allowed one registration each and the fee is $20. \nThere are no size limitations  \nPLEASE read the WSA juried exhibition policies   \nIt is important to take a good picture of your artwork in case you win an award and for show publicity. Please send jpegs to Nancy Treves ntreves@mac.com. \nThe judge for this show is artist Kim Weineck. There will be cash awards for first\, second\, and third place\, up to four honorable mentions (non cash).  \nArtwork drop off is on Saturday\, May 31\, 10:00-11:00am at the Natick Library . SUMMARY:Plein Air 101
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Thursday\, May 15 \, 7:00-8:30pm for Plein Air 101 at the Wellesley Free Library  \n  \nAs the weather warms\, and summer travel plans are in the works\, many people are inspired to get back outside to observe\, sketch and paint. For some\, plein air painting can be challenging without the usual studio conveniences\, but the benefits of painting from life can be quite surprising. Artist Dan Schultz shares some thoughts on how plein air can help your painting practice. So in hopes of inspiring people to venture out to paint from life\, the WSA is having a program on May 15 at 7:00pm at the Wellesley Free Library to help simplify the plein air process. Come learn from fellow members and or share your experiences about the various artist kits for watercolor\, oil\, acrylic and pastel\, and see how to tackle this practice. This evening is also a wonderful opportunity to come meet and chat with WSA members. Join us for light refreshments beginning at 6:45pm.  \nWSA Members: Mai Mai Pietrowski\, Joanna Dole\, Nancy Present Van Broekhoven and Mark Richards will share their experiences and address some of these questions: \n\nHow do you get organized for plein air painting?\nWhat supplies do you put in your “box” and why?\nHow do you set up everything and how do you find a perfect spot?\nWhat is the best time to paint outside for you and why?\nWhat are tips and tricks you have learned?\nWhy do you love it so much?
