Alfred DeAngelo

Wellesley, MA

Over the years, Alfred let his vision lead him from one group of paintings to the next, rather than trying to deliberately develop a ‘style’. This has helped keep his art fresh by allowing him to carry over what he’s learned from one aesthetic to the other.

Alfred says, “our experiences in life are usually localized and subjective, creating a series of impressions on a personal scale.” He is continually developing a private vocabulary of images with which he attempts to express different aspects of these experiences. With his surrealist paintings he tries to look ‘through’ outward appearances and somehow embody the essential mystery of existence. His still life, flower and landscape paintings are simply the result of the joy of seeing expressed through the medium of paint.
