Jacob Mazurek

Natick, MA

Jacob Mazurek began to paint in 2001 in Newquay, UK while stationed there with the U.S. Navy.  He continued painting throughout his Navy career.  While deployed to the Middle East, he was a member of the Bahrain Society of Contemporary Artists.  In Japan, he became the first American to display at the Sasebo City Shimanose Art Center, making national news.  Following his Navy retirement in 2018, he earned his MBA at Notre Dame.  While there, he painted the Basilica painting (see above), as well as five other Notre Dame scenes, all of which are currently on long term loan to the university.  After working as a financial analyst for the U.S. Army at Fort Drum, NY, in 2023 he and his family quit their jobs, sold almost everything, and moved to Bulgaria with nothing but luggage and a cat.  There he displayed at two galleries and finished writing a book.  In August 2024 they moved back to the U.S. where he is once more working as a financial analyst for the Army.  He has moved a total of 42 times in his life.  His strongest recommendation is to never move overseas with a cat, especially if flying is not part of those plans.
