Lynn Dennis

Wellesley, MA

Wellesley resident Lynn Dennis enjoys capturing her surroundings in pattern and color.   Much of her work has been inspired by scenes discovered in neighborhood walks in Wellesley and nearby communities and on her frequent trips to Santa Cruz, CA.

Painting was on Lynn’s bucket list when she retired from her psychotherapy practice in 2018.  She found her way to acrylic painting under the guidance and encouragement of instructors at the New Art Center in Newton and has exhibited her work in various venues under the Center’s auspices as well as at the Wellesley Public Library.  Currently she works primary from her home studio.

Lynn was raised in suburban Chicago.  She moved to Los Angeles to attend UCLA where she received her undergraduate degree in political science. She then returned to the Chicago area for a few years where her two sons were born.  Next, it was on to St. Louis for twenty-four years before settling in Wellesley in 2001.  Lynn earned  graduate degrees in social work and Jewish studies along the way and, before becoming a psychotherapist, had worked in the corporate world, as a congregational program director and as a hospice social worker. Currently Lynn is a volunteer ESL instructor for adults and in the past she has been an instructor with the Wellesley-Weston Lifelong Learning Program.
