Rowan O’Riley is a painter who enjoys exploring the values and contours of the face. She is currently working on a portrait series called “My Covid-19” featuring the faces of the 19 people who became most essential to her during the Covid pandemic lockdown period when she saw very few people. These included family members, housekeepers, mail carriers and people she managed to work with regularly via FaceTime. The series served as a way for the painter to surround herself with the faces of the people most important to her and feel their presence in the midst of their absence.
