Laura Scheuerell has entitled her show “Water, Above and Below the Horizon Line”. In describing the exhibit, Laura provides the following in her own words: “Laura Scheuerell paints, collages and builds her 2 and 3-dimensional mixed media art in layers. With WATER as the principal theme, she includes fish and their worlds below and above the horizon line. These habitats present various scenarios in a sometimes humorous cartoon-like form. On the water top is the allure of glimmering light bouncing off waves, lily pads and shorelines. Below is a secret world of sunken artifacts. She is particularly fascinated with the vertical velocity and the powerful plunging drop of waterfalls. Having grown up just 3 miles north of the booming and crashing natural wonder, Niagara Falls, Laura remembers sensing the misty, negative ion-infused air. Summer visits with family in Canada on a glacier lake north of Ottawa introduced her to the underwater culture of fish. These recollections have inspired this exhibit.”
