Claudia Doherty

Claudia was born in Boston, MA and grew up in New England. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a BA in Economics in 1992 and went on to a career in financial services. After the births of her three children, she began to more seriously pursue her love of art. She is drawn to moody, earthy tones and subject matter that is both beautiful and bleak. She seeks to capture the poetry of a figure, an object or a place that will leave a lasting impression on the viewer. Claudia often uses a palette knife to scrape and layer paint to achieve a hard scrabble look of imperfection.
She currently paints from her studio in Newton Corner taking inspiration from the places she has lived including Hong Kong, London, Tokyo, Boston and Cape Cod.
