A classical opera singer by trade, Mena has always been drawn to art, but never formally trained. A few years ago, after attending a pastel demonstration by Robin Frisella, she fell in love with the medium and began studying through videos and classes with accomplished artists, which quickly elevated the quality of her work. Art, like music, has become another language of her soul. Recently Mena’s work has been accepted into a multitude of prestigious, highly competitive National/International exhibitions, featured in the Pastel Journal’s Best 100, and she has won numerous awards. She is a Juried Associate Member of Pastel Society of America, Juried Signature Member of four Pastel Societies – Cape Cod, Central Mass, New Hampshire, and Connecticut. She is a juried Exhibiting Member of the Wellesley Society of Artists, and the North Shore Art Association. Mena’s work has been represented by professional art galleries in Rockport, Gloucester, Lexington MA, and Portsmouth, NH.
